Fundação Amazonas Sustentável (resumo executivo)
The Sustainable Amazon Foundation (FAS) is a Brazilian non-governmental organization, non-for profit motives, of state and federal public utility. It was created on February 8th, 2008 by means of a partnership between the Amazonas State Government and Bradesco Bank. Today FAS has 210 partnerships with research institutions, private companies, governmental institutions, social organizations and other non-governmental organizations.
FAS’ mission is to promote sustainable development goals, with a focus on improving life quality of traditional forest peoples and environmental conservation. The main initiatives are implemented by the Bolsa Floresta Program (PBF), Education and Health Program (PES) and Innovative Solutions Program (PSI), an international program with a focus on South-South cooperation. FAS also acts as executive secretariat for the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) for the Amazon region.
